Emily is the founding partner of MagnusonRapp Law, a family law firm. Emily practices in Kane, DuPage and Kendall counties and additionally practices at the appellate court level. Before starting MagnusonRapp, Emily worked at Peskind Law Firm and Weiler & Lengle, two prominent family law firms in St. Charles, Illinois. She can assist clients in any family law issue, whether it involves divorce, paternity, maintenance, child support, parental allocation of time and responsibilities (formerly known as child custody), premarital agreements, adoption or appellate issues. She has extensive experience in handling complex financial issues for high net-worth clients and has background both as a trial attorney and a negotiator. Emily is additionally certified as a Guardian ad Litem, an attorney appointed by the court to represent the best interests of children.
Emily earned her Juris Doctorate from Loyola University Chicago School of Law and continues to supplement her education through continuing education courses. In 2013, Emily completed an intensive five-day trial skills program at the National Institute of Trial Advocacy in Colorado. In 2016, she was selected as an “Emerging Lawyer” by Leading Lawyers, a program that recognizes lawyers identified by their peers to be among the top lawyers who are age 40 or younger.
Emily is an active member of the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA) and the Kane County Bar Association (KCBA). She is currently a committee member for the Women & the Law Committee for the ISBA and on the Board of Directors for the KCBA. She has presented at Illinois State Bar Association and Kane County Bar Association seminars speaking on topics relating to family law. In addition to her speaking engagements, Emily has authored legal articles including updating the Parentage Act article for Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education.
