Emily Rapp

Founder & Attorney

Emily is the founding partner of MagnusonRapp Law, a family law firm. Emily practices in Kane, DuPage and Kendall counties and additionally practices at the appellate court level. Before starting MagnusonRapp, Emily worked at Peskind Law Firm and Weiler & Lengle, two prominent family law firms in St. Charles, Illinois. She can assist clients in any family law issue, whether it involves divorce, paternity, maintenance, child support, parental allocation of time and responsibilities (formerly known as child custody), premarital agreements, adoption or appellate issues. She has extensive experience in handling complex financial issues for high net-worth clients and has background both as a trial attorney and a negotiator. Emily is additionally certified as a Guardian ad Litem, an attorney appointed by the court to represent the best interests of children.

Emily earned her Juris Doctorate from Loyola University Chicago School of Law and continues to supplement her education through continuing education courses. In 2013, Emily completed an intensive five-day trial skills program at the National Institute of Trial Advocacy in Colorado. In 2016, she was selected as an “Emerging Lawyer” by Leading Lawyers, a program that recognizes lawyers identified by their peers to be among the top lawyers who are age 40 or younger.

Emily is an active member of the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA) and the Kane County Bar Association (KCBA). She is currently a committee member for the Women & the Law Committee for the ISBA and on the Board of Directors for the KCBA. She has presented at Illinois State Bar Association and Kane County Bar Association seminars speaking on topics relating to family law. In addition to her speaking engagements, Emily has authored legal articles including updating the Parentage Act article for Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education.

Alexandra C. Rothenberg

Associate Attorney

Attorney Alexandra C. Rothenberg joined MagnusonRapp Law, LLC in June 2019. She concentrates her practice in the area of family law, including divorce, parenting time, child and spousal support, and property distribution. Alexandra attended Regent University in Virginia Beach, Virginia where she earned a Bachelors of Science in Psychology. She subsequently earned her Juris Doctor from Chicago-Kent College of Law in Chicago, Illinois. Alexandra is described by her clients as compassionate, well composed under pressure, and hard working. Clients appreciate the way that she effectively communicates with them, judges and opposing counsel.

Michelle Alexander

Paralegal/Office Manager

Michelle has over twenty years of experience as a paralegal working in family law firms. She assists Emily Rapp in her cases and handles billing. Michelle will be your initial contact when you call our office.

Ozzie

Office Dog

Ozzie is the office dog at MagnusonRapp Law. He is an elderly Chihuahua that mainly sleeps, but every once in a while he will greet people in the office.
